We received an offer to stay at the Emerald Cove RV park (part of CRA). 4 nights 3 days free, including dinner for two one night. Yeah I know... I have to sit through a sales pitch.

Anyone been there? I have heard that the road in is tough and parking is tight for a 40 footer... anyone know for sure?

OK...
I made a long distance call to a friend who is there now...She stated that there are a lot of big rigs there now... and the roads coming in are just fine. They are members and they spend about 4 months down there each year.

If I were you (or if I had the time I could take off) I would head on down there! Enjoy ..and let us know how you liked it!

We have been members there about 5 years now and really enjoy the place. The road does have curves, but they are well marked for speed. The road surface is good. The sites have plenty of room for your rig. They have several other CGs in their system, one in the Banning area.

Thanks all,
we spent 4 days there in beautiful weather, woke up to the sound of high speed ski boats going by Saturday morning (big race out of Havasu I am told). Campground is nice, plenty of room for the 40 footer and the toad. 50 amp hookups, store is well stocked and casino is close

We did pass on the membership since we are not ready to make that commitment and want to look around first. Seeming not high pressure sales until you look back and realise that they offer you a $2000 incentive at the presentation time only (walk out and think about it and its off the table) and cant sign up later (wait time is 2 years) and then you have to pay an additional 200 per year because you turned them down the first time. Too bad too... if they hadn't said that I might have gone back later

I would suggest purchasing from a private party when you get ready. I have been told the price is great that way

We did the tour last spring. The campground is ok but basically a huge gravel lot next to the river. We were only three rows back from the river so the view was pretty good. This is a heavy use area, it seems like there are two types of users. The winter crowd is mostly snowbirds who according to the employees we talked to are great. Come spring and summer the heavy duty river rats come out. I like boating but this was over the top. I was told CRA even sells a membership which is only for summer weekend use and is really popular with the California boat owners. We were there in April and the heavy use made for severe sewer smells throughout the campground; that and the fuel and exhaust smell from the river was enough to turn me off. If you are really considering purchasing be aware if you take the tour they will ban you from being able to purchase a second hand membership for at least 1 or maybe 2 years I don't remember which.
