We are new to TN and like to go camping in a
few weeks with our Pop up. I need sugguest on
places to goto with hookups and good places for
small kids.

We are intersted in the Smoky mountains area.

Y'all may want to consider camping with the Appalachian Campers' at their Fall Appalachian Camper's rally in Whitier, NC October 22-25. Whittier is near Cherokee, NC which is in the Smoky Mountains area about 10 miles (as a bird flies) south of the Tennessee state line.

Where are you? TN is a pretty big state.

Parks we've stayed at and like:

Chester Frost County Park (Eastern TN)
Chattanooga (Hixson), TN

TN State Parks
Fall Creek Falls State Park Resort (Middle TN)
Pikeville (this is the site of a few movies including the live action Jungle Book = Fall Creek Falls)

Tim's Ford (Middle TN)
If you go here, stop in at the Jack Daniel's Distillery in Lynchburg. The tour is free and lasts 2 hours.

We recently stayed at Twin Creek in Gatlinburg, it was quieter than I thought it would be since it is very close to 321, I think the fact that it was down in the valley made a lot of difference. It was nice to have a trolley stop right at the park entrance so you don't have to find parking in the downtown area for sightseeing.

We also like Cumberland Mountain State Park in Crossville.

There are a number in Middle TN if you are interested in this area. Let me know and I will give you a run down on them.

Two nice campgrounds in Sevierville. I stay at the Riverside CG most of the time. Good prices. On Hwy 321 10 miles E of Gatlinburg is Crazy Horse CG, nice but a little pricey. There are several nice CG's in Townsend, "the quite side of the smokeys"

I agree with the above poster. Townsend is a great place to go. I have several pictures in my photo album of that area. For a pop up you cant beat a river site at the Little river campground. They are the best if you are in a pop-up. I sure wish that I could squeeze in there.
Next choice would be Tremont Hills right next door.
Both of these campgrounds are great with pools, game rooms playgrounds and such.
Just eight miles from Cades Cove right at the park entrance.

I live in east TN. If your looking to enjoy the Smoke Mountains Townsand is the best place. Less traffic, less congestion, and the two campground floridacamper mentioned are very nice, clean and children friendly. Also closest to Cades cove and it an short tip into Gatlinburg by going thru the National park.

try falls creekfalls in tn.
its a state park. we stayed here for a week it was one of the best places in tn .
lots of hiking, 5 big water falls.
and a very larg swimming pool.
just bring your food. no placs close to buy lots of stuff.
