We'll be traveling from Gulf Shores, AL to Disney World in Florida later this month. We have about 10 days to make the trip. We're looking for suggestions about where to stay and what to do/see along the way.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Topsail Hill State Park in Santa Rosa Beach (basically just east of Destin) or Henderson Beach State Park in Destin a both very nice. Topsail has on site sewers, Henderson Beach has a dump station. Plenty to eat, see, buy, eat, look at, walk on the beach, eat, or maybe just stop and have snack in the Destin area.

For a get away from it all (literally), try Ho Hum RV Park just east of Carrabelle. It has pull in spots facing the gulf (water is about 10 feet in front of you). Try to get sit 41, the only 50 amp gulf facing site. The others are 30 amp. Fish off the pier. Apalachicola is a few minutes drive for a quaint old town with nice shops, and some very good places to eat. If you must go shopping or insist on visiting THE MAJOR UNIVERSITY in the state, Tallahassee is a 45 minute drive.

CG

The two state parks Top Sail and Henderson Bch are both 10 parks. HB is half the price but hard to get into. TSH is very laid back and real clean. HB is more of a beach park. Right on the sand. Its right across the street from Walmart, but you would never know it. Two other state parks that are nice are St. George SP on St Geroge Island (no stores nearby) and Andrews SP in Panama city. Both are nice. No really good SPs from there down IMHO. Manatee in Chiefland is a minus 10 (CG is really bad) Oleano SP off I-75 before you get to Gainsville is about a 4. If you want to go I-10 to I-75 there is a real nice SP named Stephen Foster SP just north of Lake city. There is a pretty park just outside of Pensaocola called Grand Lagoon SP . But the campsites need lots of work. To little, hard to get into and no maintenance on them. s/Toby
