Need to find a campground south of the Monroe, NC area, close to Marshville, NC. Daughter & family bought home & property on private road that we cannot navigate in our 40' motorhome. we'd like to have extended visits and be close enough to go back & forth with our Jeep. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Ron & Jan

Ron & Jan, unfortunately there is nothing that I know of in that area or within a resaonable drive for what I would consider on an extended visit. Union County is very poor on parks and rec. The only county park is on the complete opposite end of the county from Marshville. Its Cane Creek Park in Waxhaw, quite a drive from Marshville.
There used to be a very small park near Peachland NC on Hwy 74 but I havent seen anyone there in quite a while. I will try to drive by there this weekend and see if it is still there. He may have converted it into a mobile home park. there is also another spot near Wadesboro that I have seen several long term 5th wheels parked. I will check that out for you too.

Too bad I'm not closer, you could park on my farm with 50A FHU. (My coach is in indoor storage for the winter). But I'm about 2 hours from Monroe over near Hillsboro.

I took a ride around today and sorry to say, both of the places I mentioned are no longer there. Marshville covers a large area and i'm not sure where you will be visiting, but Tom Johnson CG near the speedway may be your best bet. It seems like a long way but lots of folks including me, commute to Charlotte to work dailey. Again depending on where you are going.

The closest I found doing a Google search is: Camping Area
About 13 miles south of Monroe.
Good luck

Not familiar with the park at Cane Creek, but I live about 5 miles from Tom Johnsons & the speedway. This area is very active & there are several restuarants & a large outlet mall (I use "outlet" sparingly) they think they are an outlet mall yet they are priced higher than most outlet malls I have ever been to & some reg retail malls. Still a nice place to visit. There are also several Nascar shops in the area you can tour.
Just be sure there isn't any event going on at the speedway that does not interest you, there can be a lot of congestion during the events. They have several different events through out the year, all are automotive related.
