Heading to New Bern next week for a stay at the KOA. Anyone have any experience with this campground? Anything I should know about the approach/directions?
Thanks,

I would like to know also, we are going there for Labor Day Weekend. Was going to Cape Hattteas KOA but we are canceling that reservation today. I know the KOA in Wilmington is not the easiest to get in and out of we were there last week.

I have not stayed there, but I live about 35 miles north and have been by there many times. It looks like a nice park and looks like it is easy to get in and out. iRV2 members Diane and Tom Neal live about 5 miles from there down Hwy 55. They go by diandtom on iRV2.

Bill,
Thanks for the response, it is much appreciated! I will be traveling in a 39' w/tow and am planning to go the 95 to 64 to 17 route. Anything I should know or watch for on that approach? Is there a better option coming from the Balt/DC area?
Thanks,

I am sorry I did not see your reply sooner. That route is OK. You will get off of 64 at Williamston NC which is 16 miles north of my home. There is road construction north and south of Washington, which is my home town. It should not be too much of a problem for you. I live 2 miles north of Washington on 17.
I hope you enjoy your stay in New Bern. Be sure to check out Tryon Palace. It was home to the Royal Governor of NC. It has been restored very nicely and is open for tours.

Bill,
Thanks very much for the response and the suggestion. We are familiar with Rt 17 from Norfolk into the OB and 17 from Elizabeth City a good way south as we have been looking at neighborhoods in the NC area. Based on what I saw, it looked like Rt. 17 could be a good option as it was a pretty nice road but I did not want any surprises since I will be towing and not able to back up.
Thanks again,

We are back from the New Bern KOA and I just wanted to post a 'Thanks' to WA4SLC (Bill & Camilla) for the helpful information and hints. We had a most enjoyable trip which took us in on Rt 17 through Washington and back via the Rt 70/I95 juncture.
The campground is a little smaller that I thought from looking over the pictures and website. That being said, it is very nice and very well kept. The staff was friendly and helpful. I cannot comment on the laundry facilities or the camp shower facilities as we used our own on the coach. Based on everything else we saw, if I had to guess, I would guess they are just fine. We are already planning another trip to New Bern and we will return to the KOA.
I know at least one other member (craziecritte) was interested because they have a trip planned for Labor Day so if there are specific questions, feel free to email me or post in this thread and I will get back with any information I can provide.
