New Bern,NC KOA

Since it's supposed to be 50 degrees this weekend, I'm considering a short trip for the upcoming long weekend. Has anyone been to the KOA in New Bern,NC? Last year this time we went to Wilmington and found many nice restaurants and places to see. Kind of hoping for same experience again. All suggestions and comments are welcomed. Thanks. PS. We are leaving from Fredericksburg,Va and can only travel a max of 5 hours this weekend.

Nice place. Easy access sites, good facilities. We lived about 30 miles away for 15 years, and used that KOA for the spring shakedown trip.
New Bern has a great waterfront historic district with Tryon Palace, and more.

Thanks for your reply. We are just waiting to see what the weather forcast is for Sunday. We are hoping to find a nice restaurant on the river for a nice lunch or dinner. We are willing to visit here in the off season to see if it's a place we'd like to visit when it's warm.

Late update on the trip to New Bern. My wife decide it would be a good idea to go after all and we had a blast. Had planned to drive halfway down after a long day at work on Friday but ended up driving the entire 4 hours. We parked outside the gate and got a good nights sleep. The owners at the KOA opened about 8:00 the next morning and we were escorted to our super site by 9:00. Very nice kept KOA. Our site was really nice with a large patio , furniture and a raised fire pit. The view of the river and the sunsets was great. Weather was nice except for some rain on Sunday morning. We didn't unwinterize so we used the clean and comfortable bath house. (Big surprise since my wife isnt really one for public showers) Kudos again to the KOA owners and staff. Nice quick getaway for a long weekend during a long winter. Buy one night get one free didn't hurt either!
