New Luxury Gulf Coast FL Resort - Opening Jan 5, 2013

I am not in any way associated with this resort but I wanted to convey information about a beautiful RV resort near Port Charlotte, FL.

I purchased a brand new Entegra Aspire and was looking for a place to test out all the features not too far from Orlando (2.5 hrs). I bumbled upon a new place via the internet in the final stages of construction. I ended up talking to the builder/developer and he invited me to stay at his place at a very reasonable rate. This resort has 200 sites on the Myakka River and is very upscale and quiet as well as having beautiful sunsets on the river or along it's 1600ft boardwalk along the river. We pulled in and discovered we were the ONLY RV other than the developer....yes 198 empty sites waiting for RVs. They had not officially gained occupancy certificates yet so we were the 2nd or 3rd coach to stay there. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have a resort on the river to yourself? It was great. The owner is very nice (Rolf), and an Rv-er himself. Of course, luxury RV sites in sunny Florida are not free, but check them out. Especially if you haven't made arrangements yet for this winter in Florida, this could be a nice locale.

Here's a link to their website. I am not affiliated with the RV resort. I am just providing the info because I had a great time.

From the website: "The Resort is a gated, fenced, and deed-restricted community, open to residents with Class-A motorcoaches."

Then of course that means my poor arse fifth-wheel towing self will never darken their doors.

But then again I'm a refugee from Florida, having been born there, raised there, and for fifteen years after military retirement, a resident there. If I really want to go back for a visit I can see my sister, my cousins, or my kids.
