Haven't been there since Katrina, but prior to the Hurricane there was a KOA just east of the city that was great. Near Slidell I think. Anyway it wasn't far from the city and really clean.

R,
There is a pretty good discussion on sites there on the Camping forum
New Orleans
I was thinking of taking a trip to NO this past summer and was looking to try the Lake Ponchartrain RV Resort. As it turned out, never made the trip. I leaned more to it because I felt the I-10 noise on the French Quarter site would be a little aggravating to us, both places do sound nice though.

Just left NOLA. Stayed at Ponchartrain Landing RV Resort.
Take the shuttle to downtown. The cost of parking is more .
Park is secure, safe, and out of the rush.
If you are a member of PA, you can save quite a bit.

Places to stay near New Orleans

We are a coast to coast member and stayed at Abita Springs RV resort. It is about 25-30 miles north of downtown New Orleans. It was a very nice park and had alot of restaurants and shopping close by. We stayed at the Walmart near by the night before as we arrived the day before our reservation and they had no space available.

We've stayed at the French Quarter RV park about four times now.

It's close to downtown. There is freeway noise there but not enough to bother us.
