We stopped there about 20 yrs ago and the place was pretty run down... and the neighborhood was the pits. Maybe it has changed, but I just looked on Google earth and the park looks the same.. can't tell about the people in the neighborhood.

We also stayed at Ponchatrain landing. Enjoyed it a lot.
