New Orleans Parking

We're taking a cruise on Royal Caribbean this Saturday, out of New Orleans. Anyone who's familiar with this, any idea where good low cost parking might be? The cruise line offers it for $16 per 24 hours. We're wondering if anything less expensive might be available.

Any thoughts?

thanks-

dave

Are you looking to park an RV or a car? I've done cruises with an RV before and always left it in an RV park.

We took a Carnival Cruise from New Orleans a couple years ago. We did not have a car so my information may be way off base.

The area is just beyond the French Quarter, the side streets are a little narrow, lots of one way streets, and the neighborhood is not real nice.

I would not bring my motorhome into this area.

Popular parking near the cruise terminal seems to be plenty secure and I wouldn't worry about parking a car there. I seem to recall a lot of open space parking in this section of town, but most is not particularly secure. I think I would pay the $16 and feel good that my car was okay when I returned.

Have a great trip, We loved cruising out of NO and hope to do it again.

I agree with Norm & Ellen. If the $16 lot has security use it. If not find one that does, but close by. They are also right about the bordering neighborhoods. They can get real bad quick.

Where are you driving from? The reason I ask is if it's not too far, it may be about the same cost (depending on how long the cruise is, which determines how much the parking will cost) for a 1-way car rental to drive to NO, then another 1-way rental to drive home again at the end of the cruise. Pick a rental company that offers free pick up and drop off. You can leave your own car safely at home and not worry about security.

We've been in N.O. a couple of times. My advice just take a cab. Then you don't have to worry..
Have fun
