Heading to NO in a few days, staying at KOA West. Any advice on do's and don'ts in NO? Not taking the toad, plan on using the free shuttle and taxis. Will be traveling with our 11 year old. Go RAVENS!!!

Cafe Du Monde good for 11 year old. Outside bustling cafe that serves hot sugar covered beignets (donuts). Also like Ruby Slipper - chicken salad with apple bits is amazing. Lots of outdoor vendors. National World War II museum is nice - movie narrated by Tom hanks (if my memory serves) is quite powerful. Have a wonderful trip!

I wish I was going. Went to Atlanta to tailgate and after the game all my buddies were all hung hi about going to superbowl. But when I started talking about money, they all backed out. I'd rather go with the fellas and leave the DW at home. Oh we'll, guess ill have to watch the niners kick some raven booty at home. Hope you have fun but GOOO NINERRRRSS!!!

Go to the convention center they have the NFL experience there he will love it. there is also the Insectarium and the aquarium. Enjoy yourself. If you go into the French Quarters stay on the busy streets ( at night). What we call the back part of the quarter is mainly residential and the bad guys would love to catch you there late at night by yourself. Don't want to scare you just letting you know. I live here in the quarter. It dose not happen all the time but you never know. There is more police presences. You will have a great time. If there is anything you want to know you cam PM me.

For sure have your camera ready at all times...
in fact just wear your video camera as you never know WHAT will show up in Nawlins !
I can TELL you some stories about driving down for Mardi Gras
but that was when we could go as young folk and MOST of the time find our way back home !

IMHO parts of New Orleans is a cesspool
I tend to stay away from there and its only a 3 hour drive.
I love Ralph and Kacoo's there

Antoines is great but will set you back over $100 for 2
Antoine's Restaurant - 713 Saint Louis St, New Orleans, LA
Since Im a youngin I like some of the special drinks on Bourbon street, but watch out, you go to far down it and its not the place to be
Most important Dont get into a fight with Ray Lewis

We are planning a cruise out of NO at the end of next February. Has anyone taken their MH there and left it for 8 days for a cruise? Or would it be better to just fly in?
Would appreciate any feed back.

Where do you want to leave it? You won't be able to leave it on the street. Campgrounds are pretty expensive. I would say fly in, personally.

If you live in one of the states that LA state parks recognize you can get it at 1/2 price at a state park just across the river in Westwego at Bayou Segnette S P if you are a senior. This is a nice park.
I lived in Venice LA area over 30 yrs.

Winniecruise,
I'd check Craigs list in NO for a fenced & guarded truck/storage lot near the cruise line docks. I've found spots as low as $50/month. Many are in industrial areas near docks because few people want to live nearby.
Then you can check with the cruise line itself. They may have, just like airports, low cost long term parking.
All you'd need do is lock it up, don't leave anything too valuable in it, close the curtains, leave a battery operated blinking 'pretend' alarm on the dash or near the door, and disconnect the RV batteries.
