Newport Dunes

We camped at Newport Dunes this past weekend for the first time in about 4 years. We used to camp there regularly and were surprised by how many empty spaces there were on Friday and Saturday night. It used to be full every weekend this time of year but I would say at least 1/3 of the spaces were vacant. I was even able to make reservations for a weekend in July while we were there. That would probably not have been possible a few years ago. I guess it is part of the economic downturn.

We have been here for the last three weeks and every weekend is packed and absolutely awful .
Week days are fine but come Thursday evening the party starts and it's a different place .
Bathrooms are disgusting , dogs off lead , drunks driving golf buggies , unsupervised kids .
Avoid weekends if at all possible

It might have something to do with the economy and the cost of gas.

I camped there once many years ago. It wasn't for us, too expensive, a million rules even worse if you have kids, didn't feel like camping while in downtown Yuppieville, Newport Back Bay isn't exactly inviting either.

Forgot to add , that whilst there is good wifi coverage , it drops out every 5 mins and forces you to reregister ,
