Newport News VA park

Has anyone camped at the subject park recently? If so how did you find the facilities? Is it suitable for a 40+ MH?

We have not camped there in the past couple of years but we have camped there numerous times. We had a 40 foot 5th wheel that we took in there so there are sites that are large enough. No sewer hook ups and the bath houses are old but cleaned daily. This is a heavily treed campground and some sites are near water. The last time we camped there, we thought it just looked tired and the price has gone up so much that we will not stay there just for that reason. The neat thing about it is the Civil War entrenchments that are located in the campground and still visible after all this time. It is close and has easy access to Williamsburg and Busch Gardens.

Just to update on the subject park. We are in Loop B which is the only 50A loop. Well treed but we found a site, 25, we could fit in. Most sites on the right side of the loop slope down hill which would make leveling a challenge unless you carry a lumber yard. Most of the left sites are ok but trees could limit your choice depending on slides.

I stayed there last year for Easter. There were warnings about ticks. Be careful as we did pull a few off of the grandkids throughout the weekend. Nothing special but was decent for the weekend.

Ticks were not an issue this time.

To add to my earlier post, several of the sites have the electrical service near the front of the site so you may need an extension, 50A, when you are positioned where you want. We were a little further forward than I wanted so I could make the connection.

YMMV
