Newport Rhode Island

Since the kids have off school this coming Monday for the Columbus Day holiday we are planning to head up to Newport, RI and check out the area.

A first time for us - anything that is a must see?

Audrain Auto Museum near the Tennis Hall of Fame on Belleview Avenue. You can walk part of the Cliff Walk. It overlooks the ocean with some very big mansions behind you. There is also a small train -coal fired- that boards near the visitor center on America's Cup Blvd. The train ride is narrated and passes by some old aircraft carriers. The visitor center will give you some good ideas. If you like seafood in a very casual place, try Flo's Clam Shack. Interesting shops on Thames Street.

Newport was one of my favorite places this past summer on our NE trip. We did most of what Harris155 said.
