On which side should we stay? US or Canada? Then which park is recommended? First of Oct. 2010. 40' DP & toad
We searched the site but found older discussions.
The plan is to do all the falls related activities..... are there any non-falls "must see" items?

Which side: Depends on your passport.. Truthfully not a lot to recommend one side over the other save distance from the falls.

I do not know where the campgrounds are on the Canadian side.. I have made two trips to Niagra Falls. First time I parked at Grand Island KOA Second time at a memberhisp park..

Since the "Attraction" was the falls. not the park, There is not a lot I can say about either park.

We stayed at a State park on US side about 5 miles from the falls and right on the lake...Four Mile Creek State Park, Youngstown NY. Large spaces with water and electricity at the site and 2 dump stations in the park that are easy to use. We were there in Sept of 2007.

Also stayed at 4-Mile Creek SP. A few sites over looking lake Ontario are very nice, but you could get a bunch of wind in those sites. I remember the sites being very large. It was an easy 10 or 15 minute drive on a freeway to view the falls.

For what it's worth, there is more to see and do on the Canadian side, which is where we stayed. However, that was before we started RVing and we stayed at the Mariott on the Canadian side.

There are a couple of camp grounds on Lundy's Lane up on top of the hill away from the tourist areas on the Canadain side.

KOA, Campark, Rick's (I think)

Lundy's Lane is the main tourist street. You can purchase a day pass and ride the bus cheap all over the Falls area.

Besides the Falls there is Marineland and a whole bunch of things along the Niagara Parkway.

It will take you several days to even attempt to see it all.

We have stayed on both sides but do like the KOA on the Canada side - mostly because you can catch a bus half a block from the camp ground that takes you down town to the falls area. I think the view of the falls is better from the Canada side especially in the evening when they turn on the lights & eliminate the falls. If you are interested in restaurants and touristy things there seems to be more on the Canada side. Beautiful gardens. Be sure and take a ride on the Maid of the Mist boats - right up to the base of the falls.

We stayed at Campark on the Canadian side. It has a newer section with pull throughs and WiFi. The KOA also looks very nice. As another poster mentioned there is a lot to see and do on the Canadian side and the bus is a nice bonus if you don't want to drive to the falls. Parking is not a problem though but a little of a walk. Agree that Maid of the Mist is a must do.

Hi Hal,
We've stayed on both sides many times. Now I stay only at AA Royal Motel and Camp Ground on the USA side. It is about 8 miles from the falls. Their contact number is 716-693-5695
It is small but neat and clean. Sites are black top and level. There are pull through and back in sites. There is nothing to do at the CG. But then again the CG is not why one is visiting the area.
