Thinking of going to New York this summer near Niagara Falls. Looking for a nice campground in that area close to the falls, any suggestions would be appreciated.

On the Canadian side there is a KOA that is a really nice CG and convenient to all falls attractions. Go here to see their web site. We've stayed there and would stay there again.

Hi Jim & Toni,
We spent a number of days at Niagara Falls this last July. Had originally planned on the Canadian KOA, but for some reason that I can't remember now, we ended up staying at the AA Royal Motel & Campground listed in North Tonowanda, NY. We enjoyed the park and would definitely stay there again. The park is behind a motel, but well laid out and attractive in spite of that (being behind a motel). It was one of the lesser expensive, but they are all high, nearly $50 a day or more.
We made arrangements via Bedore Tours for trips to both the Canadian and American side of the falls. The park management will help you make arrangements with one of several tour groups. They will pick up up at the RV park and deliver you back. The tours are more than worth the $$ as you will be driven everywhere, parking is not an issue, you get moved quickly thru the border crossings and entry lines for everything else, and you will go see things you might not see going on your own.
You will be close enough to other attractions (the Erie Canal, etc.) that they are a good day trip too. All sites had paved pads for parking and small grass "yards". Most were back-in with 2 or 3 pull thrus. The owner/managers were very cordial and accomodating. As I said, we would stay there again.

GaryKD and DonnaB Thank you for you for the information.
We will be traveling with our two grandchildren 16 & 8. Would you happen to know if we would need anything special to get them across the border and back? Like birth certificates notarized letters from their parents?

We stayed at 4 Mile creek state park in Youngstown NY about 5 miles from the falls. Spacious sites with water and electricity (dump station on site) about $25.00/night. Some spaces right on Lake Ontario. We were there in Sept. without reservations. Summer would most likely require reservations.

Hi Jim,
To take minor children accross and international border, when you are not their parents, you need an Inrernational Travel Child Consent Form. The form needs to be signed by both parents and notarized. The letter grants you premission to travel with and authorize medical treatment for the named minor children while outside of the USA. In addition, each child will need a USA passport. There is another document that will sufice for North America travel, but I forgot the name of the document. Getting the passport is not difficult. Go here to learn about the process. All our grand children have passports.
Also consider having both [parents sign (notatized) a Child Care Authorization document. The document allows you to authorize medical treatment for the named minor children while in the USA.
PM me, with your email address. I can send you the boiler plate of the forms. It will be in .doc format (Microsoft Word).

I'll 2nd 4 Mile Creek State Park. Just about all the sites are level and nice and grassy. Most of the ones with electrical service are full sun. The sites are very large with a lot of room between sites.

Renna and I went to Niagara last July. Here is a link to the posts I did back then. Might give you some good info, and save you from a rip off also. Please read. Niagara Falls
We stayed at the KOA, in Lewiston. About a 10 minute drive to the Falls. Very nice people, and a nice shady campground. I would not recommend the other KOA I saw on the south side of Niagara. Trees were tiny, and didn't appear to be much shade at all. Go to campground reviews, and see the info I put there on Niagara Falls North KOA. Have a great trip!!!
