Niagara Falls with the dogs

We are planning a trip to Niagara Falls in June and are taking our 4 chihuahuas. We have not picked a campground yet but I if we stayed on the Canadian side would it be a problem getting the dogs accross. Also any recomendations on campgrounds and things to do would be appreciated.

We stay at Niagara Heartland RV, a Passport America CG, and it is 20 or 30 miles from Niagara depending on which way you go, scenic or Interstate. It is in Gasport, NY.

As for things to do, our only purpose is riding around and visiting the falls.

We travel across Canada from Niagara to Michigan with a 70 pound Husky. Just have current vaccination certificates available.

Why on the Canadian side? Four Mile Creek State Park (a NY state park) is 15 min from Niagra Falls and when you stay there you get free parking at Niagra Falls. Huge sites, e & w, and nice bathrooms & showers, the have dump onsite. It was right on the shore of Lake Ontario and could see Toronto in the distance. Great park and easy access to the falls. While at the falls we noticed the traffic jams coming back in the US, glad we stayed on the US side and walked over the bridge to Canada.

We have crossed the US Canada border several times and have never been asked for pet papers. We do carry the pet records, etc. including a recent letter from out vet saying the dogs & cat are healthy and carry no diseases. Just like passports and other documents - just don't hand them through the window - let them ask for what they want. Most often they just want to ask a question so don't bother them with papers or give them things to think or ask questions about. (Just my opinion)

Hey There..Just make sure you have your papers for the rabies shots. We have found that it is the US customs that ask, never have a problom coming into Canada. If you make it up to Hamilton,ON we will be at Fifty Point Consevation Campground with our 4 chihuahuas and mexican hairless.

Have fun..Steve & Darlene
