My wife and I just got back from a 2-1/2 week trip from St. Louis MO to the West Coast. We went out I-44 then dropped down to the Dallas area to visit our son, daughter in law and new grand daughter. We stayed at a new RV park in Aubrey, Texas nameed Shady Valley. Very nice and reasonable. We then went through Carlsbad, NM, Benson, AZ and stayed in Alpine California. It is 37 miles from Old Town San Diego. Easy ride from the campground. The name is Ma-Tar-Awa RV Park. It is on an Indian reservation. Cost is $32.00 per night,no tax, for full hook-ups. The stagff is terrific. We dealt with Lynn, Gayle, Betty, Sandy, Barb and Daniel. For those of you that like casinos, there is the Viejas casino one mile away. Directly across the street from the casino is the Viejas Mall. We will definitely be going back there. Phone number is 1-619-445-3275. Tell them that Tom and Judy said to give them a call.

I know exactly where you stayed, I my self stayed six more miles down the road and had bus service to the tram and used metro transportation to see the sites. It sounds like you had a great time and have some good memories...

Yes, it was very nice. We really like Old Town San Diego. Always like visiting there. Will be going back probably at the end of summer. Wish we would have stayed there and not headed up to the snowy Grand Canyon.
