Nice Motorhome resorts near North Port, Florida

It looks like we will be able to spend a week or so in sunny Florida over the holidays. I will be located near North Port, FL. Does anyone have any thoughts about places to stay in that area that two 45+ adults would enjoy staying at? We do not have any kids, like bike riding, lounging at the pool, etc. Would be great if we could rent jet skis or other fun toys while there.

Thoughts and opinions appreciated!

There are 2 ENCORE parks. One on river Road right off Hwy 41. We prefer Harbor Lakes on McCall rd , technically Port charlotte (5 minutes to N Port. then there is a Beautiful New RV Resort named the Myakka river RV resort. there are plenty of places and many open spots. PM me if you need more help. safe travels.... ed

Thanks for the info. That is exactly what I am looking for. There are two named very similarly. One is the Myakka River Rv Resort. The other is called the Myakka River Motorcoach Resort. The latter is the one that opened this January I think. I assume that is the newer one you are referring to? I looked at Harbor Lakes via Google Maps. Is there a good area close by to ride bicycles? Lots of area within the park? Thanks so much for responding so quickly!!

I decided on staying at the Myakka River Motorcoach Resort. That is the one just opened last year. I hope I made the right choice! Thanks for your input!

Ride across the bridge over the Myakka river and you have miles and miles of residential area to ride with very little traffic. If you go East on McCall rd you can ride 7 miles into Port Charlotte (which is NOT a City). In charlotte County, FL there is only 1 city named Punta Gorda. If you ride West you head toward Englewood, Fl (about 8 miles). the rest of the county is unincorporated, so technically there really isn't a Port Charlotte, FL. This is an area bypassed by the big development firms. It is 50 % undeveloped and then sparsely built. When you get in PM me with your phone and I'll give you some places to go, even a few restaurants. There are several trails also near by.

Got in early yesterday morning. Place is beautiful! Kind of isolated, but located right on the Myakka River. Lots of bike riding. There is a bike trail that runs right outside the park entrance. Took a ride over to the ocean yesterday on the Harley. It is about 11 miles to the ocean from here. Park is kind of expensive, which is probably why it is so empty. Only about 20 or so coaches here right now. About a 1/10 to an 1/8 full. Love it!!!

The place is brand new, beautiful, has a great heated pool, hot tub, tennis courts, and is located within 10 miles of the beach. Kinda pricey, but a really lovely spot. The owners are also RV'ers and really know how to treat their guests. Close to many residential areas for safe biking. Motorcycle friendly. Park is really filling up now that it is almost January. Highly recommended and we will be back again!!!!
