Nice RV resort near Portland, Oregon

We are planning a trip in August to the Pacific Northwest and would appreciate any recommendations for a nice place to stay in or around Portland for a few days. We have a large dog.

Jantzen Beach is located well to Portland. We are currently here and stayed last year as it is close to my son. However, we will not stay here again. Noise has gotten worse: Trains, boat horns, airport flight path. And the crime has gotten much worse from the neighboring trailer park. We had our bikes stolen this year. Neighbors had kayaks stolen. Insurance agent says he is out here all the time!!

We'd like to stay at Pheasant Ridge, but our dog is 60 pounds, a bit over the 40 pound max. 😥

We like to camp at Champoeg State Park You can't go there unless you promise to pronounce it properly.

It is 30 minuets south of Portland but hours away in atmosphere. We go into PDX for the day and then drive back to Champoeg for bike riding and walking.

Thanks for the pronounciation lesson on Champoeg. We'll be staying there soon and I've been saying it incorrectly.

It's a tricky one for sure. Have fun!

Don't stay at Pheasant Ridge if you have a big rig (~40 feet or more). That place is so concerned you might damage the precious grass that they put steel fenceposts at the corner as you turn to exit your campsite. Better your rig get damaged than anyone mess up the grass.

If you can make do with a water/ electric site with a dump station in the park; Clackamette RV Park is very nice http://www.orcity.org/parksandrecrea...e-park-rv-park
Located right on the river in Oregon City with easy access from I205 and close to everything. Our Golden loved swimming in the river.

We have been staying at Jsntzen Beach on and off for several years now as I have an aunt that lives in Portland and a new GGS in Vancouver , so it's really handy to both. Never had a problem there, except for a tree limb that jumped out as we were pulling into a tight space.
