North Carolina end of March 2013

Hi all,

We are attending the Affenpinscher National Specialty in Raliegh NC March 20-24,2013. We are taking the week after to do some tourist stuff. Were thinking about Cape Hatteras but not sure what will be open that early. We have a 40' with a toad. Would like to camp someplace Mon-Thurs. and take the car to do siteseeing. Looking for suggestions as to campgrounds, sites to see, places to go, ideas of what the weather may be at that time of year.

We are looking forward escaping the end of upstate NY's winter for a couple of weeks.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Dan

I don't know about campgrounds being open that time of year, but the weather can be hit or miss. Unlikely is a winter storm, but still possible. Most likely is nice temps during the day (70's) and cool in the (40's) at night.

Is that a dog or a monkey?

Cape Hatteras KOA, Camp Hatteras Campground are two that I know are open year round. Keep in mind alot of the business close during the winter. Not sure when they reopen in the spring. The wind always blows. It can be cold or warm or rainy. Just a chance you take. However, you would not need to make reservations that time of year so if the weather does not look promising, you can change your plans last minute. Hope you enjoy your trip to NC. It is a beautiful state.

Texastbird, It is a monkey dog!! Nice to hear someone knows them. They are really great little dogs. Have been breeding and showing them for the last 9 years. Took one to Westminster last year.

Thanks for the info about camping. We have liked NC int he past but have not camped there this early in the spring.

That's not a very nice nickname for a really smart and cute little dog. I used to grit my teeth when people would call my Mom's dachshund a Weiner dog. We went to Hatteras once in June and it was stormy and very windy. Just like down here on the Texas coast in spring time.
