North Georgia mountains reccomendations

We will be going up through Georgia and Tennessee in July and would like to check out nice places in the N Georgia mountains.
We plan to stay for a day or two there before going up to TN.
Anyone know a nice place?
We are not into narrow mountain roads leading to a cg.

Thanks,

Richard

Stone Mountain is a great place to camp out for a few days, just outside of ATL. Google it and you'll see the campground and other interesting tid bits.

Unicoi State park is BEAUTIFUL! It is just north of Helen, which is a nice place to visit. I can't testify to the road widths except to say they were plenty wide on my motorcycle! Anna Ruby falls inside park. Hiking trails and more, just Google it. The lodge there has an awesome buffet that I recommend for at least one nights dinner. Steak soup if it on the menu that night!

Ga. 17 has only 1 set of sitchbacks going north from Helen and at the Ga./N.C. border there is a historic 1 lane bridge. Not a whole lot of traffic there except going through Helen. I recommend passing through Helen before noon Friday or Saturday or 3pm any other day.

Try Clayton or Dillard Ga. It's in the foothills of Great Smoky Mountains on 441 headed toward Cherokee NC. Dillard is right on the Ga./NC line. I know there's a campground or two, just don't know the name. Also, there's Tallulah Falls Gorge just south of Clayton. I think there's camping there. Driving on 441 will be fine. You can then unhook and drive farther up a mountain to sight see or go to Highlands, Cashiers, Cherokee, Maggie Valley, or Asheville NC.
