North Rim Grand Canyon Question - To Bring a Toad or Not
We have a small 24 foot motorhome and will be camping at the North Rim over Memorial Day weekend. We have a toad but am not sure we are going to bring it. We normally bring when planning on long day trips. I do not want to over work the motorhome transmission with the steep elevation to only drive the toad a few miles.
Does anyone know if the pull off areas for sightseeing can accommodate a small motorhome? It appears there are plenty of things to walk to from the campground so bringing the toad may not be a necessity.
We are only going to the north rim and back. Please let me know if you think bringing the toad is necessary.

Yes, the pull-off viewing areas are large.

If you just park at the main north rim lodge you won't see the other points about 45 min away like Point Imperial and Cape Royal. You'll get whole other views not seen from the lodge. The parking areas are smaller at those other sights, although you may be able to fit a 24 ft motorhome. Some of the road to get there are narrow and winding too.

Here's the official park's website for you to read. It's geared for both the South & North Rims so make sure you're looking at the correct area for information. I assume you'll be staying at the North Rim campground. From there you can easily walk to gorgeous views. Then take your RV and drive to the other viewpoints where there will be plenty of parking for your small RV. Yes, some areas may be curvy to get there but certainly doable in a RV. The paved roads are definitely wide enough. You'll have a great time there. We love it!

If you have time and love animals, pre-arrange for a tour of Best Friends Animal Sanctuary (a no-kill facility). You will be amazed at the facility and how the animals of all kinds are cared for. It's in a gorgeous setting at Kanab, Utah perhaps on your way or from the Canyon. Even if you don't get in on a tour you can drive there and do some looking yourself. Your RV would be just fine for parking.
Another thing to do in the area is to drive to Coral Pink Sands State Park. You would not believe the color of those beautiful sand dunes and it's not far off the Hwy 89 near Kanab. Just a drive-through would be enough.

We brought the toad and it was worth having it. There was a lot to see in the area. We may not bring it next time though and just relax at the csmpground.

Good choice - really hard to see areas without the Toad - the North Rim has many areas to view from, most are not that close.
I personally would have a hard time "Just relaxing at the Campground" at the North Rim, just Too much to See and DO.
When in doubt bring the Toad
Post a few Pictures when you head out,
Best of Luck,
