Northern Ga & SW Carolina mountains
Thinking about a trip to Ga/NC next month anyone got any recommendations on nice CGs that can hold a 40'. We're orig thinking something around Dillard Ga or Franklin NC. We like to see the sights, easy walking, festivals/fairs/car shows, etc.

Riverbend cg in hiwassee. Close to helen, dahlognea, lots to do and see in the area, many waterfalls, tubing down the rivers, festivals. The campgound is well kept, right beside a clear fast flowing hiwassee river.

"Coming from Greenville SC I85 How steep are the hills?"
There are several ways to get there, but if you don't mind driving a little further, the come on into Georgia at the exit at Lavonia (Ga 17) Follow it over to US 441 and turn north toward Clayton. Follow US441 through Clayton, Mountain City, and Dillard. Just north of Dillard look for the Highlands NC highway. There is a Chevron station there. Turn right and RiverVista is up the road about a mile on the right.
Closer but a bit more crooked and steeper is Exit 1 (SC 11) at the lake. Go west (can only go one direction) to SC 24. Turn left on 24 toward Westminster. There, take US 76 toward Clayton. Turn right and follow US 441 to Dillard.
Best route is the first, big road to Toccoa, then 4 lane all the way to Clayton.

I spent 8 nights at River Bend in Franklin, NC last June & July. It became our favorite CG. The host was extremely friendly, the bath house was the cleanest we've experienced and each of the sites backed up to the river with full hook ups including cable. Best of all, at the time the rate was only $20.00. We plan to head back there in a couple of weeks. We just finished a 33 days trip to Maine and Canada yesterday.
