We are going to be making a big loop trip this summer from our home in southern Oregon back east.

When we start out, we were thinking of heading up through eastern Washington to pick up US 2 and stay on it all the way to Michigan.

Does anyone have recommendations for sights along the way?

Specifically, we were interested in what the Pend Oreille wilderness is like in northern Idaho. Worth a looksee?

Thanks for any info.

P.S. Did I post this on the wrong subforum?

We went through there on our way north to AK, there is a nice COE park right off of US-2 midway between Newport, WA and Sandpoint, ID. Nice big, private sites and real quite. Newport had a rodeo going on which we found very interesting (being easterners) and Sandpoint gets a lot of summer people and a nice place to vist, eat and what not.

The CG is in Laclede, not Oldtown, but the google map link is good. We ended up spending a week and enjoyed it. There is a dam down the road with a visiter center.

Thanks. Yes, it was probably the lake I was thinking of. Haven't done any real research on the area yet, just have heard people talking about the "Pend Oreille Wilderness." Probably just informal stuff. By the way, "Pend Oreille" (French for earlobe?) or Ponderay, as I've seen it on the map?
