NY to FL. Things to do along the way

We will be snow birding in Florida for the first time with our new 40' motor home. We're driving down to Key West in December and are looking for some interesting things to do along the way.

We love nature and we love to see and do things. We will be bringing our Harley with us. I guess if we ever get a dog, we'll name it Harley too.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Patty

If you like nature, take the inland route on I-81 and stop at Shenandoah NP and Great Smokey Mountains NP on the way down. Keep an eye on the weather in December as you could get some snow in the higher elevations. Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge outside of Great Smokies will give you plenty to do and spend your money on! You can then cut into Asheville and see the Biltmore Mansion before heading south.

Two Words: St. Augustine!

I lived in Florida for 16 years and, by far, my favorite place in the whole state is St. Augustine! Yes, parts of it are kinda tourist-trappy but, hey, what place isn't these days? You can walk/shop along St. George St., take a trolley tour and/or grab a burger at Scarlet O'Hara's! Oh... And don't forget to visit the lighthouse!

LOL!! After a few days in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, and then a few months in Key West, nothing will ever seem "tourist-trappy" again!
