Lake McConaughy in Nebraska. Haven't stayed there personally, but have many friends who have. Sand beaches, boat docks, full service/boondock campsites etc. Just google Nebraska tourism. We have a lot of nice places. kkd

Lake Barkeley in western Kentucky. We stayed at Prizer Point campground at least three times when the boys were younger. Marina, restaurant and campground in a beautiful setting.

Check out Army Corp of Engineers campgrounds, most are on waterways with launch ramps in the campgrounds,,,and they are clean neat and well manicured, the only drawback is you must make reservations weeks ahead of time for waterfront sights @ Recreation.gov, there are a few reviews on this web site.
