Oh lordy - it's a mishap filled vacation!

Well we're off and stumbling! Left Chicago will smiles and a bright outlook, only to have the alternator light come on about 2 hours into the trip. All readings were good and after a call to the shop were told it was ok to press on. As soon as we entered Iowa a huge storm hit us head on. So bad that my fearless DH actually pulled over and had a stream of 4 more cars follow in line behind us! Because of the storm our awning got goofed up. Another hour down the road and we heard - flap, flap... the awning was opening! pulled over to the side and hit the retract button it came in. A few more miles... flap, pulled over, DH hit the retract and the darn thing flew open! So here we sit side of road with awning open! Call to Carefree.. blah, blah broken motor, roll up by hand.... lucky for my DH he has a very smart wife who told him to bring along a ladder! (saw on here several folks carry one!) Got it rolled up... but it didn't want to stay. Stopped at a truck stop, took apart the whole awning, traded pieces and TA DA! my DH is a genius! It works but just for good measure it's duct-taped in place! So if you see our lovey jerry-rigged awning give a wave! DH is happy in his recliner with beverage of choice.. tomorrow has got to be better! (btw found a fantastic shop in Des Moines Harrison Trucking great people got us on the road in under 2 hours! it was a fuse!)

And the follies continue.. After the awning incident we drove from Colorado to South Dakota spent a few nights. Go up nice and early to begin the home stretch run, only to find our front tire really low. Found a local shop open at 7:30am and they found the valve leaking somewhat quick fix and underway by 9:30. Several hours on the road a tiny car passes and Smack threw a stone and cracked the windshield. I'm so done with this trip! I need to get home and remove the hex!
