Ohio campgrounds at Halloween...

Does anyone have any campground recommendations where to go for Halloween festivities in Ohio? Last year we went to Happy Hills in Nelsonville, OH. We had a great time! We are debating going back there or maybe going somewhere different.

We will be taking our son who is 15 along with my brother's kids who are 5 and 10 (who have never been camping before).

The 15 year old wants a haunted hike or something similiar. Of course they want to dress up and go trick or treating.

We go to East Harbor state park on Catawba Island. We camp there quite often and there trick or treat weekends are outstanding. The only problem is that they book up early. They have many activities for the kids. Very clean park. And the beach is very shallow.

I second that...The Ohio State Parks put on a great program for the Halloween weekends in Oct. Many of them have it for 2 weekends.

This year we are doing West Branch SP. in Northern Ohio. People go all out in doing up displays on their sites. At WB there is a 1/2 mile long haunted trail local acting clubs put on. There is T-or Treating, pumpkin carving.....

The last 7 or 8 years we have done Mohican 08', West Branch 07', West Branch 09', Findley 10' You can see by the pictures....a lot of time is spent doing up their sites. I always do a graveyard set-up....

Try this link to Ohio State parks " Calender of Events " Go to Oct to search the Halloween weekends

Mohican & West Branch put on great Halloweekends, but they're horribly hard to get a site unless booked way early. Jim's link to the SP website will help you figure out what parks have Halloweekends & when.

We've been to Natural Springs Resort's Halloween weekend & it was pretty good. There was a guy on a corner double site across from us that pulled up in a cargo van & unloaded a whole boatload of stuff. His site was awesome. Little Farm on the River is another one we've been to. Due to it being a 2-tiered campground, we didn't get a lot of action where we were in the lower section next to the OH river, but the upper section was good. There's a couple pics of decorated sites if you go to that CG listing in my photo albums.

There is great need for a sarcasm font.
