It is a poor business practice. Most of parks we check into actually move people around when specific sites are reserved, and they let the ones being moved about it when they check in.
I told her common practice would be to make them move and give me my site. She didn't want to make them mad. Yeah. So it is what it is. My stay is free and I have 2 free nights on that site if I choose to come back.

Last winter, while getting ready for our spring time trip to the 'lower 48', I had called a 1-800 number to making reservations for an RV park in one of the areas we would be visiting. I had asked/paid for a drive through spot, full hook ups and 50 amp service. We got to the RV park late in the evening, only to find out that they have no drive through spots, no 50 amp service and no full hook ups. To say that I was a little PO'ed would be an understatement. The wife talked to the gate person and was told that they work on a 'first come-first severed' basis. We left there, went to a CW that we knew was in the area and spent the night there. The next morning we call a different RV park and got what we wanted for the week that we would be in the area.
Is this 'common practice' I would say 'no', but it does happen.

Most reservations have a disclaimer stating your choice will be honored to the best of their ability, but it is not guaranteed.

The few private parks we have stayed at this has happened once or twice. Since we only had a 25' tt they gave the larger site we reserved to the 40' unit. They only say as a private park we will "try" to honor your request. That is why when I reserve at a state park I will get the site I reserved.

Yep I'm in a nice class A 35' the one that got my site was an older 5th no slides even. I like the state parks this crap doesn't happen there. Around here water an electric hookup at state parks close end of October. They shut water off because of freezing so I go to private or carry my own water. I should of just turned around and came home.
