Wink Okeechobee, FL

I am looking for a campground that will accommodate a big rig in Okeechobee, FL area for the first week of March. Not too much information on RVParkReviews for this area. One suggestion I am hoping to avoid is $70/night at the Okeechobee KOA.

Has anyone had any experience with Zachary Taylor RV Resort?

I am meeting friends here and want to bicycle around some of the lake.

Thanks for any suggestions.
Paul

Hi Paul,
If you Goggle "okeechobee rv resort" you'll get 3 choices. None of these I have visited.

Thank you for the response. I have done that. I have also been to Florida Campgrounds: Florida RV Parks, Beach Camping, Tent Campsites, Cabin Rentals , www.woodalls.com and www.campgroundreviews.com.

Having stayed in a couple campgrounds where the management was less than to be desired (the last was Narrows in Bar Harbor, Maine). I try to get a recommendation before I book.

I have received a couple names of campgrounds not to stay in, but the only recommendations have been for Zackory Taylor and the KOA. The people recommending Zackory Taylor had not stayed there and the KOA is $70 night.

I am going to research those three and see what turns up.

Again, thank you for the response.

Paul:

Wife and stayed at the South Bay RV Campground 2 times now and would go back. It is a county run campground, very quiet as long as your in the back area away from the road. Well maintained.
Here is the web site....

Don't remember the cost per nite but it is not an expensive one. We stayed for closeness to "Lion Country" attraction which we have also been to twice.

Hi Ronk,
Thank you for the post. I had forgotten about Lion Country. It will definitely be a stop on the trip. I may cut my stay in Okeechobee in half and stay there a few nights.
Again, Thank you,
Paul
