Oklahoma for RVers

Johnny Cash once said, "I have been everywhere man". But, most RVers have not ...

So, I was thinking the other day ... Oh no, DW has that look that I know so well every time I get to thinking ... I told her, no really, I was thinking that RVers want to go and see places, but they don't much enjoy burning diesel just to get there ... So, I said to self, "Self, why not ask others at the irv2 forum for feedback before you start them engines ..."

So, what I'm looking to do is get feedback from others that are familiar with specific states to help snowbirds and sunbirds with their travels.

Since Oklahoma is a favorite place for many RVers ...

What parts of Oklahoma do you recommend for other RVers? ... What parts would you put in the category of not worth the diesel needed to get there?

I think, in time, we could build a database from threads like this for each state in the US, places in Canada, Alaska, etc.

We just spent time in Twin Fountains RV Park in Oklahoma City. Really nice park. From it the Cowboy Hall of Fame and Western Museum is 10 minutes away and really a great destination.

Note for IRV2 MODERATOR: Not sure if it is okay to enter the kind of information I added below. It looks too much like advertisement for that park. But, I meant it as adding additional information to what's around the area for RVers, from the park already recommended by someone else ... If not appropriate, please go ahead and remove this post. If appropriate as is, if you could just remove this note ...

All of the state parks in the eastern half of the state are great.... Robbers Cave was very nice. The Choctaw Pow Wow on Labor Day is very nice with lots of activities for everyone. The entertainment is usually top of the line and free.

On the west side of the state, Boiling Springs State Park is a gem. Lots of wildlife to see and the little town of Woodard has numerous restaurants. Little Sahara State Park is close with lots of play area for the ATV enthusiast.
