Old fashioned road trip...

Tomorrow I fly to Reno where my son will pick me up in his Ford Ranger. He has been working as chef in Yosemite for the summer.

We will then hop on I-80 and drive back to NJ - in the cramped confines of a mini pickup. NO Class A comforts like a bed to nap on, refrig with cold drinks, my own bathroom, etc.

Should be back in NJ by Saturday.

I would change my name to RVTHERE YET for this trip.

Made it back from Reno to NJ in good time. Makes a difference when you have two drivers!

Left Reno about 1pm on Wednesday and drove to Evanston, WY getting there about 11pm (with losing an hour). Woke up about 4am local time (my body said it was 6am Eastern but son Matt was still on 3am Pacific!) and drove for about 24 hours all the way to the Illinois/Indiana border. Slept for 2 hours in a rest stop and then made it home by 7pm last night.

Besides having a clean toilet, the thing I missed most about not having the MH was not being able to find anyone who could make a good cup of tea. Also sleeping on bed in the back would have been better than 2 hours sleeping in the front seat of a Ford Ranger!
