Olympic National Park, Mt. Rainier and Saint Helens

We are planning on visiting each of these National Parks this summer. We will be traveling in a 40" Motorhome pulling a Jeep. We are not hikers or adventurers just love to travel and sightsee this great country of ours. We are seeking recommendations on nice rv parks to stay close by and how much time we should allocate to see the must see sites (please identify your favorites) within each park.

Thanks,

Allen

Check out the state parks of Washington and Oregon. They have excellent web sites with reservation system, maps, and even photos of the campsites. We stayed in a number of parks in each state and highly recommend them.

For olympics I would suggest staying in Forks and taking a toad up the Hoh rain forest and Sol Duc hot springs area.

We stayed in Sandy River CG in Troutdale, Oregon to visit the Columbia River Gorge. Made a day trip to Mount St. Helens without the camper and was very interesting. There is RV parking at the state visitor center for Mount St. Helens just off I 5 and at the National Monument near the mountain. The mountain is a ways from I 5 but is a very good highway to it.

For Olympic, look at Salt Creek County Park off Hwy 112 west of Port Angeles. View sites on the Strait, and some beach access. Easy drive to Hurricaine Ridge or Lake Crescent or SolDuc Hot Springs. Antenna will get Canadian TV.

Near Forks, take Hwy 110 about 8 miles to the Mora Road. There is a very nice RV park behind the fire station, turn right on the Mora Road and left into the park. You are about 5 miles from Rialto Beach, and maybe 7 miles to LaPush, and maybe 12 miles into Forks.

Silver Cove RV Park is a very nice park 9 miles up Hwy 504 on the way to Mt. St Helens. You could see most of the highlites in one day. Its is about 40 miles from Silver Cove to the Mtn. Its a good paved road and Silver Cove is the last RV park on the way up to the Mtn.....Enjoy

I would also suggest driving "the loop" around Olympic National Park.
Head west from Olympia over to Aberdeen, north towards Forks, then over to Port Angles/Port Townsend and back down Hood Canal towards Shelton.
Ft Worden state park in Port Townsend is a great place right on the Straits.
