Olympic Peninsula Suggestions
We have lived in Washington for almosts 40 years, over 10 in the Seattle area, and have been to the Olympic Peninsula many times. We used to go to a place called Lyre River Park that had full hook-ups right on the beach, with an unobstructed view of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the ship traffic--it was fabulous and we never wanted for any other place. Well, they closed several years ago. There is still a tenting campground on the east side of Lyre River, but the one we used to stay in was on the west side of the river.
We have decided to head back over this summer to celebrate our anniversary and would really like to find a comparable place. We know about Kalaloch in the National Park, which is on the west side of the peninsula, but we are looking for something closer to Port Angeles on the north side of the peninsula. We've done a lot of looking on the internet, but without seeing these places, it's sure hard to know.
Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks!
