Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument safety?

I have read on the Organ Pipe web site that there are dangers of illegal border crossing and drug smuggling daily in the park. We have scheduled a 4 night stay in January 2019. Can anyone provide information on how safe they felt when camping in the park?

'THEY' do NOT want to be seen or encounter others..........

Twin Peaks CG .....you will NOT be alone

Safety is a 'relative term'
Be aware of your surroundings..pay attention and be engaged with your fellow campers.
THIS holds true regardless of where you go camping (or shopping, or restaurants etc)

It's safe.... just as any U.S. border town is. They don't hang around. Organ Pipe is a beautiful place!

One of the most patrolled areas.
We were there last year, took the jeep around the park drive right at the border fence.
Stopped to take a photo, after we got going 1 minute later the border guards stopped us. Questioned us and wished us a good afternoon.
The park is wonderful. No worries about our safety.
Be sure to check out Ajo Town Square on your way.

We've also boondocked out in the boonies... by ourselves.... near Ajo. Many people do. Gorgeous desert.

We stayed there last winter.. You are about 2 miles from a major US Border Patrol headquarters.. No problems

No problems staying there. Just be warned that there are strict generator hours.

What bothered me was that it is eerie quiet at night, and dark.

I lived 35 years in San Diego just north of the border with Mexico. Most illegals crossing do not want to be seen. The only problem was leaving anything of value out in plane view. If we left our shoes out on the door step they were gone in the morning. Lock up your bicycles if you have any and anything that can be picked up and taken. They do not have much of value and little money so they scavenage what they can find.

You won't find any of that in Organ Pipe.
