With all the things you all have mentioned I think I'm going to have to extend my stay down there, sounds great.

x3 Howard's Pub is a must. Don't miss it great food. The OBX is very nice in September. Most vacationers are gone by then. Beaches all for yourself. DW and I stay in Avon, about halfway north and south from all attractions.

The DW and I spent a week there in late September 2011. It was after the crowds cleared out. Had the pick of the CG and setup next to the dunes to fish and relax. One hour after settling in the rain started, 6 days later it stopped. We did get to see all the mentioned attractions from our vehicle windows and any restaurant we wanted. Some of the roads are water covered at high tide so watch where you go. Enjoy the area, there are several golf courses as well if you're into it. You'll need a vacation after the trip to recover from all the activities. Safe travels
