Smile Outerbanks NC

We are wanting to take a road trip to Nags Head NC. We have a 45 ft. Newmar Mountainaire. We live in Texas so do not know the terrain. Has anyone ever driven their Motorhome to the OUterbanks? Any suggestions or information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!

Been there three time, really enjoyed out trips there and I am sure you will. We recommend the Camp Hatteras in Rodanthe. It is south of Nags Head about 20 miles, less congested. Need to explore all of it, Ocracoke Is. is pretty cool. Kitty Hawk great place to see. The area around Kitty Hawk and Nags Head is pretty busy place. Going north above Duck you can drive on the beach and see the wild horses, my wife really enjoyed that. Friends of our took their Motorhome on the ferry over to Cedar Is. on their way back to California and had a great time. Enjoy!

We have several times to Rodanthe and stayed at Camp Hatteras. Ocean Waves next door is also recommended. Lots of large RVs so I don't think you will have any problems. Nags Head proper is very busy in the summer.

If you stay in Waves NC you have a choice of 3x CGs. Waves is nice. If you want a NICE pool, the KOA is wonderful. The 3rd CG did not appeal to us. The KOA is company owned location. But you will need a car / toad. A local company island crusiers rents classic jeeps. Old but in good safe condition. Nice people who will pick you up.
