Overnight camping south of Dallas. I-45

Headed south next week, going to Galveston. Would like to spend one night in a campground on 1-45, maybe an hour or so south of Dallas. I've looked at Good Sams, Woodall's and the find a campground web site. Hard to believe but pickings look pretty spars.

There's not much out there as I recall. You may run up on a place or two as you drive along. I usually stay in the Dallas Ft worth area at Treetops RV located on the south side of Arlington. Treetops RV Resort in Texas | Carefree RV Resort.

This is really a nice spot close to restaurants. From their location its not all that far to I-45 south.

In Galveston our favorite place to stay is Jamaica Beech RV Photos

In the front row spaces you can actually get a view of the beach and gulf. Real clean and great pool and miniature golf.

What about Huntsville State Park. Pretty place. Where you going to in Galveston. Thinking about a run to the coast myself.

Huntsvillke State Park is beautiful! They redid the sites in Raven Hill section a couple of years ago and are nice and smooth but almost impossible to get level in them.

South of Dallas on I-45, the pickings is pretty slim. There a a couple of state parks, but they are 20 or 30 miles off of I-45. Almost to Houston is Huntsville S.P.

Fairfield State Park is closer to Dallas that Huntsville State Park. Here is the link http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/state-pa...field-lake/map.

I have not stayed there but have heard it is very nice.
