Need to overnight somewhere near Castaic Lake on the way up to Sequoia. I'm not going to unhook or set up, just grab some zzz's until daylight and continue my trip. I know there is a county campground there but I don't really want to spend $20 for a few hours of sleep. Anyone familiar with the area that can reccomend a good place to park for a few hours? Thanks.

You've got twoalternatives I can think of right now:

1) just park in with the trucks in one of the parking lots off Lake Hughes Road. There's three, maybe four truck stops plus a couple of lots trucks park in.

2) Go to Frasier Park and park in the Flying J truckstop there.

The Tejon Ranch rest area was closed as of a couple of months ago; you could see if it's reopened. (so that's a third option).
