Overnight stops
Hi, Another Newbie heading to Naples, Fl (from Ft. Worth). Looking for suggestions for night stops. Planning on using I-20 to I-49 to I-10 to I-75.
No more than 7 to 8 hours per day. Should be able to make Lafayette area the first day, then Pensacola/Panama City the second, and maybe 4 hours North of Naples the third.
We are open to any and all suggestions. Have made this run many times (by car) but first time in our new (to us) 40 ft Travel Supreme.
Thanks in advance!
Ross and Judy.

If you are just looking for an overnight stop and feel comfortable boon docking in a parking lot, I would suggest parking at a Walmart that is easy access to the interstate. If you do a search for Walmart locations and along with google maps you can determine your distance and the city or town you will be near then search that town for Walmart. Use their map to decide if they are along the interstate. Call them and make sure they allow overnight parking, then check-in at the customer service desk to let them know you will be there for the night. I also look at the Walmart with satellite view, sometimes you will spot rvs in the parking lot. If you are not familiar with parking lot camping at Walmart or other establishments, there is some etiquette measures that should be followed as best a possible. Check this link, you don't have to read all of it just the first page or so & you will get the idea; http://www.irv2.com/forums/f59/walma...ing-54934.html
Now if you are looking for campgrounds to overnight in all I can suggest is go to campgroundreviews.com
Have a good trip.

The Pensacola Walmart on Pensacola Blvd. is about two miles north of I-10 exit 10, (Highway 29). It's very convenient to the interstate, in a decent neighborhood, and I see RVs there most of the times we visit the store.
The commercial RV park I would recommend is Pensacola RV Park. It's only a mile or so from I-10 at exit 7. In a very good neighborhood and close to nice restaurants. Pensacola RV Park

Pensacola is very RV friendly. No problem in finding an overnight spot there.
Anywhere near Panama City is plastered with No Overnight Parking signs.

Thanks. Has anyone tried the WalMart at Breaux Bridge, La. They accept RV's but not 18 wheelers, so should be a bit quieter. Do not know anything about the neighborhood.

Also, thinking about the KOA on Flat Creek Rd. In Chattahoochee, Fl. For the second night. Any thoughts?

You can try Cracker Barrels we stayed in 8 down and back to FL. stop for supper, have breakfast than hit the road to next one.
Safe area plenty of lighting and good food, will probably have campers joining in every night.

The Pensacola Cracker Barrel usually has the "RV and Bus Parking Only" lot full of cars. We've eaten at a lot of Cracker Barrels, and the people usually obey the signs, but for some reason the people that eat in Pensacola either can't read or don't think the rules apply to them. We live about a mile from the Pensacola restaurant and eat there quite often, and I'm always amazed at how so many people eating there ignore common courtesy.

So your saying if the parking lot is full and nobody is in the RV spots you drive off and don't eat there ? What about a RV that parks across 6 lines striped for cars in a regular parking area ? I know what you are getting at but sometimes you do what you gotta do or first come , first served.

No, that's not what I'm saying. I would understand if that was the case, and I would never have made the comment if it was. I know that some Cracker Barrels have very limited parking but the Pensacola store has extensive parking and I've never seen it filled.
