I've been there many times. Take your camera because you Are likely to experience close encounters!
Be sure to visit the visitor center. You'll have no problem finding it from Benezette. Don't be afraid to drive around the back roads, too which is best done in a toad.
Unfortunately, I can't help with camping locations. I have a cabin about 20 minutes from Benezette and therefore never had the need for camp sites.
Good time of the year to hear/ see bugling.
