Padre Island campground recommendations

We are thinking about spending a few months around Padre Island this winter and are interested in any recommended campgrounds in that area.
We have a Titanium 35 ft. 5th wheel and enjoy beach area camping. We would like to be near the beach, but dont have to be on it. Thank you

Long Island Village, Port Isabel

We stayed at Long Island Village in Port Isabel a few years ago and enjoyed the experience. It is just on the mainland side of the causeway to South Padre Island. You can get a space with a boat dock if you are packing boat. East access to Port Isabel and South Padre. And back up the coast at Corpus Christi there is a nice state park on the coastal island Mustang Island (between Corpus and Port Aransas. Port A is also a nice place to camp or visit.. Enjoy...............ronspradley

We stayed at the KOA on SPI, it was a little on the expensive side but you could back in to the bay side and have a wonderful view of the water. Also believe there is a state park there with a campground but didn't get any information on it when we were there.

FYI, Padre Island is 110 miles long!

There are few places accessible to RV's along the SP public access beaches. When you do find a spot to drive onto the beach sand, be prepared for the constant wind-blown sand. It will coat everything, and because it contains salt, it will quickly rust everything it contacts.
We stayed most of a week, and will never stay on the island again. Port Isabel has several RV parks that are more wind-protected and much cheaper rates. RVing in the Rio Grande Valley lists almost every RV park there. Another South Texas RV park website. Hope it helps.
We stayed one month in Los Fresnos, TX; about 15 miles from the island bridge. Los Fresnos has a very good rodeo during the winter months too. While you are in the Rio Grande Valley be sure to attend the only legal bull fight in the U.S.A. It is an experience your family will never forget.

We visited friends who have been going to Isla Blanca Park for many years in South Padre. It is a very nice facility.
