Palm Spring area park

The RV club that I belong to is thinking about going to the Palm Springs area next spring for a week. We did this two years ago and stayed in a RV park in Cathedral Springs. It used to be a KOA, but it's kinda run down and we are looking at another place. Most of the large resorts don't take groups that have a mixture of rigs. (read older)

We are considering the Sands RV & Golf Resort in Desert Hot Springs. I'm just wondering if anyone has input on this place? It's on the north side of 1-10, but only 20 minutes from Palm Springs or the Air museum. It has a nine-hole golf course right there too. The web site looks nice, but who can believe that?

We've stayed there.....nice enough place....but the sites are very very small and you may find it a challenge to get everyone altogether? Golf course is also quite nice for an enjoyable & convenient nine holes. Biggest drawback to this resort and Desert Hot Springs.....the WIND! The resort is located right in the middle of "wind alley" and we finally abandoned the Coachella Valley & Desert Hot Springs as a result. Good luck.

We were there a month last year and we second the wind comment. For pet owners there are huge pet walk areas, quite nice. They put the clubs in the back of the park and the spaces are a little less confined. They have nice community buildings for club use. The wifi is overloaded so if wifi is important you may need to be independent with hot spots etc; I think in the back they can give you cable hook up other wise you are dealing with the local cable provider and need to get boxes etc for cable TV reception. We found that sort of unpleasant. I had to remove the TV's to get the boxes installed and do some other revisions to my coach. The golf course is nice, it ain't Pebble Beach but it's about 19 bucks to play.

Overall I actually liked it even though we tend to stay in places a bit more upscale. Except for the wind which eventually made us decide not to return. For a short stay on a one time basis not bad, then people can decide on their own whether they want to return.

Also I must say I met really nice people staying there many from Canada in general the nice dog walk became the social hot spot for good conversation.

Thanks all. We are planing for March. Not sure if that matters with the wind. I'm surprised they don't have cable TV. Not sure if that's a game changer. I do appreciate the comments.

You might want to check out Emerald Desert. It is in Palm Desert not too far off of I-10. Have been to some rallies there and it is nice for groups. Will be more money than in Desert Hot Springs, but why to to a nice area like the Palm Springs area and stay way out of the way in a windy location?

Just sayin....
