Hi,

We are thinking of camping around the Panama City area next summer. I've recently met my birthmother and we want to stop down by her neck of the woods to camp for a couple of days. Any suggestions to good campgrounds that have things for kids to do? Anyone tell me about the area in general?

Thanks!
Nell

I would recommend St Andrews state park. It is very kid friendly. Every time we have gone to the park, there has been plenty of kids running around. I have a few pictures of it in my photo album.
If you get a water site, they can fish right there at the campsite. There are lots of wildlife in the park and the racoon's can open just about any ice chest made. They will leave nothing behind. Deer are plentiful as well and I can't leave out the small lake full of alligators.
The park has water and electric and two dump stations. There are also several bath houses located through out the the camp ground.
Any questions please feel free to ask.
The campground is located on the bay, but the beach and gulf is just right around the corner within the park.

All of the Panama City beach pictures were taken in St Andrews park.

Ditto as FloridaCamper stated. Real nice place AND....you can get a ferry over to Shell Island. Well worth the trip. We do not go St. Andrew's without going to Shell Island.

Not far from there, on 23rd is a neat restaurant, specializing in oysters,Rustler's Reef..another one of our hideouts.
