Are there any advantages to Camp Club USA (Campingworld) vs Passport America?

Each year after I renew, I have difficulty getting a directory from Passport America. I've had to call them or send an email every year for the past 3 years. Then they'll send one. I've considered just dropping them because this is a PITA but I still keep it, we use it for the 50% off.

I renewed for another year again in November, their materials state the directory is released in January. It's not here yet but it's still January.

It probably won't come until I call them, I'll give it a couple more weeks.

I'm thinking they do this intentionally to conserve on directory expenses. They want the money but drag their feet on delivery.

PassPort America seems to have more campgrounds listed. I sign up with PassPort America at the Florida Super Show each year in January and they have the new campground directory there that I get.

I got the Camp Club USA directory to review. Seems it doesn't have much yet. There are 255 parks, compared to over 1,000 with Passport America.

For the last few years Camping World and even Good Sam (same ownership) were advertising the benefits of Passport America membership. Suddenly, PA ads are gone and now they push this new Camp Club USA thing.

I theorize that PA was an acquisition target for Affinity Group, the owner of Good Sam, Camping World and more. When PA said no thanks Affinity created their own brand.

It takes time to solicit and follow up with campgrounds to become participating vendors in a new system. But, it will grow.

Meanwhile, Passport America started from scratch - what? - six years ago? They have a significant participation rate among campgrounds. There are date restrictions with many parks (here in Florida) and some are older, smaller parks in out of the way places that may not be big rig ready.

Yet, at $44 annually, it's a worthwile membership.

Only time will tell with regard to Camp Club.

I joined PA last year and the membership has already paid for itself. I have my renewal for this year. It will be interesting to see if I, too, have problems with the directory.

To be honest, I'd sign up tomorrow to get an electronic versus a paper version of the directory. We always have the laptop with us for Street Atlas and it would be a lot easier to look up what we want with a .pdf file. from Passport America than it is to fish out that hardcopy directory. I'm really surprised that more information providers with heavy items haven't given that as an option.

I too have had problems receiving an updated directory. I don't really care about that, though. As soon as I receive my directory it is out of date.

I much rather go to the PA website to find CGs on my route of travel. It has always worked for me.

Canadians get no directories because PA will not mail them out of the USA.

My friend from Hamilton told me they will not mail one to his home. He call and had one mailed to his temp address here in FL. He has been parked across the street from me for 3 months.

Don't know why he can't get one mailed to his home in Canada and you can, but I'll relay your info to him.

I saw the new PA directory at the Winnebago State rally and was told "they are in the mail".
That was over 3 weeks ago....Last year I had to call to get one and now I just called headquarters again to have one mailed out to me.
The whole concept revolves around the directory and I find it puzzling that they are not more eager to send them out.
