I agree. And it isn't really "snitching" in a negative sense of the word. I prefer to think that they are being kept in the loop as far as how their members really feel about the CG through feedback, both positive and negative.

Yep, we've found that restrictions like these are pretty common and many require you to pay with cash in order to get the discount. I'm sure glad these are published in the PA website so we don't get surprised when we arrive.

IMO what oatmeal experienced was was inexcusable.

I say that every year, but just prior to our annual 3 month trip I renew and every year we have been dissapointed in at least a couple of campgrounds each trip. I detest how the directory post a price, and they have another price....they blame it on misprint. Asking for cash, when the directory does not mention that......wonder if they declare those dollars to irs....extra for 50 amp service, and yes even extra for 30 amp service...(1.00 for 30 amp and 2.00 for 50 amp).
As I plan next years trip, I will think twice about PA campgrounds.....pay a little more and be satisfied.....though now I have been looking at gambling casinos....we stayed at one in Ms...15.00 per nite, good food and lots of entertainment.

As others have said, If you can use it once, it will pay for itself. Using it once is the real trick. They have so many restrictions it is difficult not to be annoyed with them.

When we started this trip in early July, there didn't seem to be any P.A. parks on our route or we didn't fit within the restricted dates. Custer SD area parks were blacked out for 3 weeks due to Sturgis. I was beginning to think P.A. wasn't worth it. Finally we hit on some places that worked for us, and some of them were okay places and some were better than just okay, but none were dumps.

I didn't mind paying a $1.00 or $2.00 up charge for 50 amp or washer/dryer nor did I mind paying cash. I understand they can't pay the 2%-4% charge to the CC company & offer a large discount. One really nice place only allowed P.A. for 2 nights, and we stayed 3 with the 3rd night getting a GS discount. A $37.00 FHU site cost us $23.00 a night average for the 3 nights.

We have a CG budget to follow and have found that P.A. and GS have really helped, and by using them when we fit the restrictions, it leaves money in the budget to spend above the nightly rate budget when necessary. We've gotten our membership fee back and then some.
