Pigeon Forge, TN

Planning a trip - first part of June to Sevierville / Pigeon Forge/ Gatlinburg, Tenn. Anybody have thoughts about weather that time of year? Planning on staying at River Plantation RV park. Was there in the fall of 2012. Beautiful park. Is there any events in June that you know of ?

Weather should be warm to hot and beautiful. I don't know about special events. There is always plenty to do.

Traffic and crowds will be terrible.(In June and July) Everything else will be great. River Plantation is tops.

Check out Anchor Down. Its probably 20 minutes from their and is on Douglas Lake. I'm not sure how long you are planning on staying in the area, but their is plenty to do here. We spend a lot of time on Douglas Lake. The weather should be mid 80's to mid 90's that time of year.

Hi old buddy, I could spend days just riding in the park, especially Cades Cove and Roaring Fork trail. Also lots of things for everything.

Enjoy Pigeon Forge Events in the Smokies
When a car show is happening you can count on bumper to bumper traffic almost round the clock. It takes about 40 minutes to go from River Plantation to South end of Pigeon Forge during a car show.
We used to stay at River Plantation, but the driving finally overcame the parks attraction. Now we stay Twin Mountain RV park at the South end of Pigeon Forge by the creek. If they happen to be full we stay at Riverbend RV park, its nothing fancy, just a quiet place to stay, off the beaten path RV park. It's about 1/4 mile from the parkway, no swimming pool just Waldens creek to swim in; but we don't swim we like to go see the area, shop, and see a few shows. The convenience +lack of fighting traffic overshadows this rather plain RV park.

I just found out we'll be there the first weekend of June, same time as the Pontiac car show, , bumper to bumper from Sevierville to South end of Gattlinsburg.

Check the maps of the area, there is a 4 lane bypass that runs form Sevierville to Pigeon Forge north of the main road.

The by-pass is called Veterans Boulevard. It will help in avoiding some of the car show. Using Veterans all depends on where you are and where you are going. One can pick up Veterans from Dolly Parton Pkwy (Rt 411). If staying at River Plantation, go left on the Pkwy and make a left at Collier (across from Walmart). Go to the end of Collier and make a right to get on Veterans. If you are going to Dollywood or the Great Smoky Mountain NP this is a good way to pass the bulk of the traffic. Any of the shows or other entertainment, Veterans is not a good choice. It is truly a by-pass.
