Just checked into pirateland CG. First impressions are sceptical. Anyone else happen to be here?

We have never been to a mega campground before so I guess my expectations...well...were unexpected.

It's ok if you like crowded, noisy campgrounds.

Can you pull up stakes and head for other parts. Doesn't sound like this is going to be much of a getaway for you. Shame to waste time on the road in an unhappy state of mind.

Pacevette, you should check out Willow Tree in Longs SC . It's only about 15 miles West of MB but a really nice place to stay. They have a sandy beach area on the lake or a nice pool area to enjoy. Best of all is it all grass and paved with large sites.

MB CG

Try Myrtle Beach State Park. It's only a few miles south and is right off A1A. It has a beautiful beach and large pine trees everywhere. No golf cart races.

We tried changing parks before we left but everything was full ...as expected. We are set up and the kids are having a good time and the beach is beautiful. We just know if we come back to MB we will not be staying here.

Stayed at Ocean Lakes several yrs ago. We had a site adjacent to the beach. The beach sites are very very tight but next to the beach. Two problems golf carts everywhere, everywhere , everywhere driving very fast by underage teenagers, and fireworks on the beach all night long were being set off by the campground patrons.

Figured there had to be some kids in the equation. I looked at their website and while pictures can be deceiving - it looks like a nice enough place - especially for kids if they're water bugs. Back in the day - my daughter would play in a mud hole if it had any water in it all (or not) Focus on their bright eyes and smiles and make the best of it! Soon enough they won't want to be anywhere near you or the RV.

I have a friend that has been going to Pirate Land every year for several years and is there right now. He loves it! Takes his kids with him (12+16). Great location close to the beach.

It is a family campground, so if that is not what you are prepared for, it may not be for you.

One thing I've learned about opinions, everyone has one and you usually have to experience it for yourself to determine if the dislikes/likes of others, are the same as your own. I know in many cases for us, they have not been and we would have missed out on many a good time because we may have followed the status quo.

Although, I've also learned and respect a lot of what I read here, but still, like anything, take it with a grain of salt.
