Hi All:
Anyone been to this "Pitchfork Fondue" thingy up in N. Dakota? Have heard bits and pieces but need straight "skinny" . Where's it located? What's camping like (FHU?, site size?, access?, etc.). What's it all about, (ie., something about unique meal, stage show, etc.)? THANKS.
Steve & Lynette

Steve & Lynette, Seems like this question has been open for some time so here's what I found: Pitch Fork Fondue, North Dakota. These a web resource that has a number of reviews.

The fondue and the show are in Medora, ND. There are two campgrounds in town, both about the same. Medora is a small, walk around type town next the Teddy R. NP. The steaks are cooked on a pitch fork in a 55 gal drum of oil. They gave us a plastic fork to eat with, it was all that we needed as the meat was so tender it fell apart. The show is in an outdoor theater. It includes real live horses on the stage. Both are worth the time and money to see and do.

The fondue and the show are at the top of the hill overlooking the town. The fondue is the evening dinner, then you walk over the the outdoor theater. I don't remeber the exact times. You can either drive up the hill or there is a bus at the local motel. The Medora campground used to have a van they used to take people up the hill. You can buy your tickets in town or on the internet.

It runs everyday during the summer when I was there. The meal was great and well worth it. While there drive through Teddy R. Fed. Park, which is also very nice. Teddy used to have a ranch there.

Thanks for the updated info on location and time. We will be going thru there next week on our summer trek West, sounds like it may be worth a overnite stop.
